I'm up for a challenge on the soap front, so I couldn't resist joining the folk at
http://www.greatcakessoapworks.com/handmade-soap-blog and try out piped soap. it is much the same as piping buttercream on cupcakes, but you have to work fast, as the soap mix will get thicker and start to set firm on you while you are piping, OR it won't be thick enough and you'll end up with a soap puddle (much like I did, including an expelled nozzle!!) on top of your base soap!
here's my little contribution. fragranced with frankincense and blood orange essential oils, coloured with titanium dioxide (frosting) and blue ultra marine (the base). I also dusted the top of the frosting with a little pearlescent mica.
in the mould, freshly piped.
cut slices (there's only 4 of them!)
Oooo, what a lovely scent blend!! These are so nice! I hope you've enjoyed it. :)
ReplyDeleteI adore those fluffy mounds of soap on the top--looks luxurious!
ReplyDeleteI like these very much, especially the dusting of mica on top.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I also like the mica on the top.
ReplyDeletePretty soaps, and lovely fluffy topping. I'm intrigued by the frankincense and orange blend, must smell lovely, xx Linda
ReplyDeletethankyou all so much. it is the first time I've piped soap, and the first time I'ves used frank/orange blend. I love the scent, quite spicy! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely finished bars, I really like the look of them. I wish I could smell the fragrance too, I love frankincense and I bet it is really lovely with orange.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else. The finished bars are beautiful! A very artistic effect!
